I didn’t start out as a wedding minister, but I’m sure glad I became one!
When I moved to Southern California from the Philadelphia area in the early 1990s, it was as a professional magician. (I came out West mainly so I could join the world-famous Magic Castle, an exclusive magician’s club in Hollywood.)
Years ago, some friends asked me to perform their wedding, so I got myself ordained and performed their ceremony. Once my friends walked back up the aisle, I thought my days as a minister were over…
Little did I know the path ahead! My friends’ wedding planner liked me so much, she booked me for many weddings over the next few years…
One of those weddings was for a reality show on TV; once I got that national exposure, I became a “hot ticket”, performing weddings all over Southern California!
What do magic and weddings have in common? Both need a strong personal connection. — When my wife and I got married years ago in Las Vegas, our ceremony felt very, well, Vegas-y and impersonal. I never want my couples to experience that!
So, instead of using the same old script for everyone (and a boilerplate wedding ceremony which doesn’t quite fit anyone), I much prefer working with each couple individually, hand-crafting a ceremony that reflects you two perfectly.
Because of that extra care and attention, my weddings are never “cookie-cutter”, and are always unforgettable!
